Kenya is intensifying efforts to secure global opportunities for its youth, focusing on internships within the United Nations and other key institutions.
These initiatives, supported by President William Ruto, aim to place young Kenyans in entry-level and managerial roles, leading to long-term careers in global organizations.
Discussions with current Kenyan UN employees have already begun, with the government committing to addressing their concerns.
A key part of this plan is formalizing the Kenya UN Club, which could grow from 400 to 1,800 members in New York City alone.
Additionally, Kenya is advocating for Kiswahili to become an official UN language, which would create significant job opportunities through the translation of UN documents, boosting visibility for the language and opening doors for Swahili speakers.
This effort, led by top officials including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, reflects Kenya’s commitment to increasing its presence and influence on the global stage
