Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League champions, Kenya Police FC, have been placed in Group A of the 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup, set to take place from September 2–15 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Fresh off their historic first Kenyan league title, Kenya Police face a challenging group featuring Singida Black Stars of Tanzania—also CAF Confederation Cup representatives—Ethiopia Coffee, a powerhouse from the Ethiopian Premier League, and Garde Cotes FC, reigning champions of Djibouti.
Group B includes Rwanda Premier League winners APR FC, Vipers SC from Uganda, Burundi’s Flambeau du Centre, and El Merreikh SC Bentiu of South Sudan.
Group C brings together Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman, Al Ahly SC Wad Madani, Somalia Premier League champions Mogadishu City Club, and Kator SC from South Sudan.
CECAFA Competitions Manager Youssuf Mossi emphasized the tournament’s role as a valuable pre-season test for teams preparing for the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
In last year’s final, guest side Red Arrows of Zambia edged out APR FC on penalties to claim the title.
Kenya Police FC will be looking to make a deeper run than Gor Mahia, who represented Kenya in the previous edition but failed to make it out of the group stage.
