Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Ali Joho, EGH, on Wednesday hosted a high-level consultative dinner with H.E. Henriette Geiger, the European Union Ambassador to Kenya, alongside a delegation from the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Kenya (EuroCham Kenya).
The discussions focused on strengthening strategic partnerships between Kenya and the European Union, with key emphasis on enhancing maritime security.
Joho said this will help to ensure safer waters, improving seafarer employment and welfare with a focus on Kenyan maritime professionals, and advancing green shipping and blue economy initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable innovation within the shipping and mining sectors.
“I hosted a high-level consultative dinner last evening with H.E. Henriette Geiger, the EU Ambassador to Kenya, and her delegation from European Union Chamber of Commerce in Kenya (EuroCham Kenya),’Joho said.
Joho reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to facilitating maritime trade and underscored the importance of collaborative engagement with key stakeholders to unlock the full potential of Kenya’s maritime sector.
He further welcomed the delegation’s participation in the upcoming Our Ocean Conference, describing it as a critical platform for advancing global ocean sustainability agendas.
He was accompanied by the Principal Secretary for Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Mr. Aden Millah, and Head of Legal Ms. Muthoni Muchemi.
