Kenya and Georgia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, with discussions focusing on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, innovation, and economic development.
Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi held talks with Gia Matcharadze, Ambassador of the Republic of Georgia to Kenya, resident in Addis Ababa, on new opportunities to elevate relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations signed by Kenya and Georgia in September 2025. Kenya expressed gladness over Georgia’s decision to host the first Political Consultations in July 2026, which will act as a step forward in bilateral cooperation.
Prompting Mudavadi, Georgian entrepreneurs do well to see Kenya as their strategic door to the African continent, not only because of the African Continental Free Trade Area but also due to the stable business environment, infrastructure development and access to regional markets.
Besides Kenya’s stable business environment, modern infrastructure, easy access to regional and continental markets in the African Continental Free Trade Area, East African Community and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa attracted Georgian businesses too, Mudavadi continued.The stronger global cooperation will open doors for the Kenyan people through more trade investment tourism, innovation and job creation, he said.
PCS further said that Kenya’s international outreach global strategy is to place the country amongst those who actively shape international cooperation while ensuring that citizens take advantage of new economic opportunities.
In a bid to diversify their partners, Kenya and Georgia made the decision to establish diplomatic relations. Both countries are now working to expand their collaboration in areas of common interest.
