The National Police Service (NPS) announced that the investigation into the death of Erick Otieno at Mama Margaret Uhuru Hospital has been handed over to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority, OPOA.
The NPS confirmed through an official press release that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations promptly launched an investigation after learning about Otieno’s death to uncover the full picture of what led to the fatal incident.
The police confirmed that the matter is now under the jurisdiction of IPOA, with the National Police Service pledging its full cooperation to ensure a thorough, impartial, and timely investigation.
“We extend our sincere condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the late Mr. Otieno, and we are grateful for the continued cooperation and support extended by the family and members of the public.” the statement read
The police have also shared their deep sympathy to the bereavement of all the people around the deceased besides expressing their gratitude for the family and public’s help to the investigations in the meantime.
NPS warned Kenyans against spreading false news and called upon the public to back the investigating agencies by sharing any available lead that may help clarify the entire case.
