The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has started the process of acquiring key election materials ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The electoral agency has invited companies to bid for the supply, installation and maintenance of the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS), including the equipment and accessories that will be used during the election.
The tender, identified as IEBC/OIT/01/2026-2027, is expected to close on September 1, 2026, at 10am.
According to the commission, the successful bidder will be responsible for supplying, delivering, installing, testing and commissioning the system, as well as providing support and maintenance.
The tender is part of preparations for the 2027 elections, which are projected to have about 28.5 million registered voters.
“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) invites tenders from interested eligible bidders for the supply, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning, support and maintenance of the Integrated Elections Management System (IEMS), hardware equipment and accessories,” the commission said.
IEBC seeks ballot papers and election forms
IEBC has also advertised another tender for the supply and delivery of ballot papers and other election materials.
The items include ballot papers, tactile folders, the register of voters and statutory election results declaration forms.
The procurement is taking place as the IEBC starts to install the necessary equipment and materials needed for the next General Election where Kenyans will choose the president, MPs, governors, and Members of County Assemblies.
Those who are interested in participating in the procurement process can obtain the bidding documents from IEBC Procurement Department, located at Fifth Floor, Room 514, at Anniversary Towers.
The bidding documents may be obtained freely through IEBC website and the Public Procurement Information Portal.
Companies that download the documents are required to provide their contact details to the IEBC procurement office to ensure they receive any clarifications, amendments or other updates relating to the tenders.
Completed bids are to be sealed in plain envelopes and delivered to the Commission Secretary’s office or placed in the tender box at Anniversary Towers before the stated deadline.
IEBC has also put forward the requirement for bid securities for these tenders. Those who wish to bid for elections management system tender will be required to submit Ksh30 million in bid security while those who will be bidding for the ballot paper tender will be required to submit Ksh40 million.
This procurement process indicates just how much preparatory work is being done for the elections of 2027 as the electoral body is expected to do more procurements for the same.
