Kenyan socialite and entrepreneur Huddah Monroe has shared a strongly worded message about Kenya’s economic future and foreign ownership.In a series of Instagram stories, Huddah warned Kenyans that the country is fast becoming “the Dubai of Africa,” suggesting that foreign investors are steadily taking over prime businesses and spaces and that locals risk being locked out if they don’t act fast.

Huddah suggested that Kenya should adopt a system similar to Dubai’s, where locals are required to own at least 51% of any company operating in the country.According to her, this would ensure that Kenyans retain control over their own economy and land while still benefiting from foreign investment.
In a surprising twist, Huddah also distanced her message from partisan politics and placed responsibility on Kenyans themselves to secure their future.Some followers praised Huddah for speaking uncomfortable truths and encouraging financial literacy and investment among Kenyans.
