The government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving access to crucial identification and civil registration services under the ongoing Jukwaa la Usalama initiative, with a focus on efficiency and inclusivity for residents.
During a tour of the Kiambu Deputy County Commissioner’s office grounds on Monday, officials inspected the registration and issuance of National ID cards, Births, and Deaths Certificates, urging residents to take advantage of recent reforms.
These include free issuance for first-time ID applicants, faster processing, and the introduction of Live Capture Technology aimed at curbing delays.“National IDs remain an essential document in accessing government services, and we encourage all eligible residents to register promptly,” officials emphasised.
Kiambu currently operates 18 ID registration centres spread across 15 of its 16 sub-counties, making it one of the best-served counties nationally. However, due to rising demand, the government announced plans to establish additional registration stations within the next three months to ensure broader coverage and faster service delivery.
The assessment visit was attended by a high-powered delegation of government leaders, including Deputy Inspector General – NPS Eliud Lagat, Deputy Inspector General – APS Gilbert Masengeli, Kiambu Deputy Governor Irine Kirika, Principal Administrative Secretary Beverly Opwora among others.
The Jukwaa la Usalama platform has been instrumental in strengthening government-citizen engagement on matters of security, service delivery, and community development.
With improved registration services, the government hopes to enhance access to identification, reduce bottlenecks, and foster trust between citizens and state institutions in Kiambu County and beyond.
