The government has floated a tender to rehabilitate State House Road in Nairobi at approximately KSh 1.6 billion.
The road is part of 92 road rehabilitation projects across the country, cumulatively estimated to cost about KSh 15.6 billion, as captured in a tender notice issued on December 19.
According to the notice signed by the deputy director of the Urban Roads Authority (KURA), the State House Road is very important, as it connects the CBD to key areas such as the State House and nearby government offices.
“In order to enhance equity, beneficiaries shall submit not more than two (2) tenders, but may only be awarded a maximum of one (1) tender, under this tender notice. Those submitting more than two (2) tenders will be disqualified,” reads the notice in part.Other projects listed include the construction of Chelimo Road in Kericho Town at an estimated cost of KSh 1.1 billion, rehabilitation of Gede-Kakuyuni Town roads in Kilifi County at a cost of KSh 967.5 million, the construction of Eldoret City highways at a cost of KSh 950 million, and the connection of Oginga Odinga Road from Subukia to Westmall roundabout in Nakuru County at a cost of KSh 850 million.
All the projects will be funded by the Government of Kenya under KURA.
