Members of Parliament allied to Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua condemn the loss of lives and property witnessed on Sabasaba in specific parts of the country, which they termed as an atrocity of lifetime. They accused government for hiring goons to surbotage businesses owned by different people from mt Kenya region.

Speaking in Nairobi, Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu said those violence were state-sponsored on the people by senior government officials, inorder to harm those in opposition “We pass our deepest sympathies to the young people and the families who lost their loved ones. For the loss of lives and property, President William Ruto must be held accountable”. said Nyutu

He further explained that people are aware of well-orchestrated economic sabotage to drive a divisive political narrative and instill fear among the people of Mt. Kenya Region and other regions perceived to be opposition zones.

These areas include Kiambu, Naivasha, Nairobi, Murang’a, Nyeri, Embu, Meru, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Ongata Rongai, Ngong, Kiserian, Kisii, Machakos, Wote and Kitengela.

According to joint statement, goons were procured through members of parliament and sent to different zones where they were not known by the locals. These goons were deployed by the government past midnight and then roadblocks were mounted by the police.”Goons ferried using NYS buses, dropped in Karagita, allegedly to cause violence, looting and vandalize businesses owned by our people. They destroyed properties and this is because we are supporting opposition.” said Jayne Kihara, MP for Naivasha.

According to DCP political leaders, the 17 counties that experienced extreme and planned violence contributes over 66 percent of the nation’s GDP. This points a clear plan of an economic sabotage and purge on the people.

They urge the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula to call for an inquiry into the Saba Saba Demonstration that led to the death of 11 people. They further called for the international community to take action against high ranking government officials for Monday’s event.
