Preparations for the 62nd Madaraka Day celebrations are in full gear at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County, with security forces intensifying parade rehearsals and logistical arrangements ahead of the national event.
Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Musao, Commanding Officer of the 7th Battalion Kenya Rifles (7KR) and this year’s military parade commander, paid a courtesy call on Governor Gladys Wanga. He was accompanied by officers and multi-agency officials involved in coordinating the festivities.
The team briefed the governor on progress and security plans for the event, which will be marked under the theme “Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs.” The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and other national security agencies are working closely to ensure a seamless and safe celebration.
Madaraka Day, observed annually on June 1st, marks Kenya’s attainment of internal self-rule in 1963 and is one of the country’s most significant national holidays.
