When Faith Cherotich crossed the finish line in Glasgow, the crowd was matched only by the pride swelling across Kenya.
The 22 –year- old steeplechase sensation has delivered Kenya’s second gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games earning her name in history.
Cherotich finished the race in a remarkable time of 9:01.76 setting a new Commonwealth Games record and reaffirming Kenya’s dominance in the steeplechase with a dominant performance.
Creative Economy, Youth Affairs and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has congratulated her for the win and bringing another gold to Kenya.
“Congratulations to Faith Cherotich on delivering Kenya’s second gold medal at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games with a sensational victory in the women’s 3000m steeplechase,” Mvurya said in a statement.
