The Ethiopian Federal Police has established a forensic science scholarship programme in honour of Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Executive Secretary Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, recognising his years of service and contribution to regional integration.
The scholarship programme, announced on Thursday, will be offered at the Crime Investigation Academy of the Ethiopian Police University (EPU) in Sandafa, Ethiopia.
According to the Ethiopian Federal Police, the scholarship recognises Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu’s exemplary leadership, dedicated service and contribution to the Ethiopian Federal Police, as well as his commitment to public service and regional integration within the IGAD region.
The programme will support students from IGAD member states who wish to pursue careers in law enforcement, with a focus on forensic science.
In a statement by the Ethiopian Federal Police, it is revealed that the main objective of the scholarship is to nurture future leaders who have the values of public service, resilience and innovativeness. The program also focuses on providing support for the personal and professional development of talented individuals who are ready to dedicate their career lives to law enforcement from the IGAD region.
The police service said the scholarship was established in honour of Dr. Gebeyehu, who has shown a lot of dedication towards the process of regional integration.
The chosen beneficiaries will pursue their education at the Crime Investigation Academy of the Ethiopian Police University.
