EPRA Appoints Joseph Oketch as Acting Director General After Kiptoo Exit

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has appointed Joseph Oketch as Acting Director General with immediate effect, following the resignation of Daniel Kiptoo Bargoria.

Before his appointment, Oketch served as Director of Electricity and Renewable Energy at EPRA, where he oversaw the development, review, and enforcement of regulations, standards, and codes governing Kenya’s electricity and renewable energy sectors.

He brings over 25 years of experience in the energy industry. Prior to joining EPRA more than a decade ago, he held senior roles at the Kenya Power and Lighting Company and the Rural Electrification Authority.

Oketch holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Master of Business Administration and a PhD in Strategic Management from Kenyatta University.

He is a member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya and the Kenya Institute of Management, and is a registered professional engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya.
