EldoHub has hosted a town hall meeting on Kenya’s National Data Governance Policy, bringing together innovators, policymakers, and community leaders from across the North Rift region to deliberate on shaping the country’s digital future.

The event, held in partnership with the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy and Total Information Management, provided a platform for open dialogue on inclusivity, accountability, and trust in data governance. Participants explored how responsible data management can drive innovation, enhance public confidence, and open up new economic opportunities for all Kenyans.

Speaking during the engagement, EldoHub Chief Executive Officer Magdalene Chepkemoi emphasized the critical role of community participation in national conversations on data governance and the digital economy.

“Data is the new infrastructure of development. By ensuring that communities across the country understand and participate in shaping how data is managed, we build a foundation for innovation that is inclusive, secure, and sustainable,” said Ms. Chepkemoi.

The Town Hall forms part of a series of nationwide engagements aimed at promoting public awareness and participation in the rollout of the National Data Governance Policy. The policy seeks to strengthen Kenya’s data ecosystem by ensuring that data is used ethically, transparently, and for the benefit of all citizens.

Through such initiatives, stakeholders are helping to create a data-driven Kenya, one where information empowers progress, innovation, and equitable growth across all sectors.

EldoHub reaffirmed its commitment to advancing innovation, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship in the North Rift region, empowering young people and communities to leverage technology for social and economic transformation.
