Maurice Ogeta, the longtime bodyguard of the late Raila Odinga, is among the most affected by his demise.
Ogeta has been pictured on several occasions during Raila’s mourning crashed, deep in thought and even tears rolling from his eyes.
The bodyguard, who walked every step with Baba, in life and even in death, while in India, penned a tear-jerking tribute to honour the man he had a near-son relationship with.
"The close nexus that blossomed into both comradeship of trust and a near-son relationship has seen me grow into what I am today. From the opportunity you entrusted to me as your personal aide for close to 18 years, I confess I know no other human being on the African continent who came close to you as the First Among Equals on the quest for a freer and more equal continent, outside Nelson Mandela," said Ogeta.Ogeta thanked the ODM leader for mentoring him.
"In the historical quest for a better Kenyan nation, your legacy was marked with personal sacrifices. Thank you for being a dependable father and mentor," he added.
