The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has announced the fees candidates will pay to register as aspirants ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 2, the party invited Kenyans interested in contesting on its ticket to begin the registration process.

The party has set the registration fee for Member of County Assembly (MCA) aspirants at Ksh5,000, while those seeking parliamentary seats will pay Ksh10,000.

The Ksh10,000 fee will apply to those seeking seats as Members of Parliament, Woman Representatives and Senators, as well as other parliamentary positions listed by the party.

For those eyeing the governor’s seat, DCP has set the registration fee at Ksh50,000.

Youth, Persons With Disabilities to Get Discount

The other notable move is the pledge of 50 percent deduction of the fees payable in the application process by youth and people with disabilities in all the specified positions.

In its directive, DCP asked applicants to use the Paybill numbers given to the party where Democracy for the Citizens Party is the account name.

After effecting the payment, the aspirants will be asked to send the payment message along with their personal and political information.

This includes the names of the applicants, their ID numbers, phone numbers, counties, constituencies, wards, and the positions they wish to contest.

Registration will officially recognize the applicants and enable them to participate in the DCP nominations.

“Registering as a DCP aspirant gives you more than a place on the list; it allows you to build, organise and champion the party at the grassroots,” the party said.

According to DCP, registered aspirants will also be able to campaign and present their agendas to voters while using party structures for mobilisation and grassroots activities.

They will further be included in official party activities and programmes and receive information on the nomination process and other official party communication.

The party encouraged prospective candidates to use the registration period to build support at the grassroots and prepare to compete with other aspirants in line with its rules.

The announcement comes as political parties begin laying the groundwork for the 2027 General Election, with candidates expected to seek party tickets for elective positions across the country.
