Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is set to kick off a five-day grassroots engagement tour of Central Kenya under the Jukwaa la Usalama initiative, beginning Monday in Kiambu County.

The programme, which brings together locals, administrators, and security officials, is designed to give citizens a platform to raise grievances directly with government while enabling security agencies to highlight welfare and service delivery challenges.

A typical county stop includes security meetings, courtesy calls on governors, inspection of registration exercises, and a public town hall session.

Murkomen will begin his tour in Kiambu before moving to Murang’a, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, and Nyeri. The trip will conclude with a joint media interview in Nyeri on Thursday evening.

So far, the Interior CS has covered 28 counties since launching Jukwaa la Usalama, with locals widely using the forums to voice concerns on crime, drug and substance abuse, gender-based violence, and land conflicts.

Security officials have also flagged stagnation in ranks, poor housing conditions, and delays in uniform distribution.

In earlier sessions, Murkomen directed that all police constables over the age of 50 be promoted to the next rank and ordered that new uniforms be delivered directly to counties to cut bureaucratic delays.
