Kenyan musician Colonel Mustafa has opened up about his past relationship dynamic, revisiting his youthful relationship with Talia Oyando and the late rapper E-Sir, revealing how personal entanglements almost tore apart of his friendship and music.

In a post he shared online with a throwback photo, he stated, “Me and Talia had a serious vibe; honestly, we were supposed to be way more than friends. But the streets and industry are messy…things complicated because she was seeing my friend and label mate, the late E-sir.”

Mustafa admitted the situation almost escalated into a full-blown beef between him and E-Sir, as pride and pressure threatened to separate their brotherhood. He claimed love triangle it caused tension in the early 2000s.

He rose to fame in the early 2000s with his hit “Kinyuanyau,” blending hip hop with Swahili street culture.

Talia publicly dismissed the claims, stating she was never in any relationship saying, “Huh I’m trying to check if this real page or fake. Boss, there was nothing ever brewing anywhere. E-Sir had no beef with you aaaiii….Eh, boss, badilisha pedi, please. Never.”

Mustafa has defended himself against Talia’s post, arguing he was sharing his personal lived experiences and the events that took place were real. “Let clear the air for once and for all. When I spoke about Talia, I wasn’t trying to hurt, degrade, or mock anyone. We were all young and beautiful and it was a different time…” Mustafa said in a statement.

His post has sparked reactions online, with some noting his loyalty, pride and the struggles that many young people go through as they grow up.
