Roots Party leader and former presidential candidate George Wajackoyah has earned a PhD in Law and Public Policy from Walden University in Orlando, Florida, after six years of study.
He graduated on Saturday, sharing the news on social media the day before.
“Tomorrow is D-Day. Six years of hard work. Tuko Orange Convention Center, Orlando, Florida. PhD Law & Public Policy,” he wrote on Friday.He also revealed that his thesis has been published in the Library of Congress, calling it a win for Kenya’s visibility in global research.
Wajackoyah said the recognition means lawmakers in the US can now refer to his work when making immigration laws.
“This took me six years, with COVID in between,” he said.Wajackoyah first attempted to run for president in 2012 but dropped out. He later ran in the 2022 election, where he finished third with 61,969 votes.
He caught attention for his controversial manifestos, including legalising bhang and shortening the workweek to four days.
He also became known and popular for his Rastafarian look and unpolished public remarks, which drew both media attention and a youth following.
