Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has reaffirmed the Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) support for the Broad-Based Government, urging party members to remain united as preparations for the 2027 General Election gather momentum.

Speaking during the Busia ODM Youth Convention held at the Busia Polytechnic Grounds, Barasa lauded the party’s youth for their unwavering commitment, saying they have been instrumental in sustaining ODM’s strength for more than two decades.

The convention was attended by ODM Deputy Party Leader and Kisii Governor Simba Arati and hosted by Busia Governor Paul Otuoma.

Barasa described Busia County as one of ODM’s strongest support bases, commending party supporters in the region for their loyalty and resilience over the years.

“As we approach 2027, we remain firmly behind the leadership of Dr. Oburu Oginga and resolute in our support for the Broad-Based Government,” Barasa said.

The Kakamega governor argued that meaningful transformation is best achieved by participating in government rather than remaining in the opposition.

“Lasting change is achieved by shaping decisions from within government, not from the sidelines. The Western region is already witnessing the dividends of this approach,” he told delegates.

Barasa called on ODM supporters, particularly the youth, to remain united and actively participate in strengthening the party’s grassroots structures ahead of the next general election.

The convention comes as ODM intensifies internal mobilization across the country while affirming its cooperation with the Kenya Kwanza administration under the Broad-Based Government framework.

“Chama iko imara,” Barasa declared, reiterating the party’s confidence in its future political direction.
