Airtel Networks Kenya Limited has announced closure of Airtel TV services which was launched four years ago.
In a notice dated October 8, Airtel informed the customers that the service came to an end on September 30, 2024.
It was initially launched as an alternative to paid services like Netflix and Showmax, offering users access to various entertainment channels.
“We wish to inform all Airtel Networks Kenya Limited customers that Airtel TV services were discontinued on 30th September 2024. Access to Airtel TV channels and content will no longer be available,” the notice read.
Adding; “Should you have any questions or require further information, please reach out to our team on the following channels: Website: www.airtelkenya.com, X: airtel_ke, FB: Airtel Kenya, IG: airtel_kenya and Linkedin: Airtel Kenya,” Airtel said.
The company launched the Airtel TV app on August, 2020, making it the first telecommunications company to launch an entertainment streaming app in Kenya.
Airtel TV allowed customers to enjoy the best of local and international entertainment on their smartphones, ranging from Movies, Drama, Documentaries, Music and Cartoons.

Premium content from the top Studios including Universal, Nickelodeon and the BBC were available without subscription to all Airtel mobile telephone subscribers in Kenya.
Viewers were simply using their Airtel SIM card to download the Airtel TV app and enjoy watching in the palm of their hands, at home and on the go.
The TV had no monthly subscriptions and was accessible as long as customers had data for streaming.
