Award-winning actor Brian Kabugi, popularly known as Realbugi, is mourning the death of his mother, Lucy Njumbi Macharia, whom he described as his best friend and a woman who held a special place in his life.
In an emotional tribute, he shared on his social media, Kabugi said his mother had been battling an illness for sometimes, and the family made every effort possible for her to live. He also mentioned that he is appealing for Kenyans to help clear an outstanding hospital bill.
“I never thought I would write a post like this. With a heavy heart, I share that my mother, my best friend, the woman who held me close and whom I held close, is no longer with us,” Kabugi wrote.
Kabugi is an actor who performs in local drama productions and he is known for his role in the Machachari show in 2012. He has appeared in Volume on Netflix and Salem on Showmax. He is also credited in the film and television shows including, Kina, Sleep, Dream Child and Teke.
Kabugi revealed the family has been faced with a debt of Ksh 3.8 million, and they are appealing to family, friends and Kenyans to help them clear the hospital bill so they can give a peaceful and dignified send-off to their mother.
Fans and fellow artists have sent condolences and encouraging messages to Kabugi, as he has stated he cannot respond to everyone for now.
“I may not be able to respond to every message or call right now, but please know that every prayer, kind word, contribution, and act of support means more than I can put into words,” he said.
