Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua

A motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been prepared and is ready to be presented in the National Assembly, an insider has disclosed.

Although the motion is ready, it is reported that no MP has stepped forward to move it. Several MPs have confirmed appending signatures in support of the motion.

In the motion, Gachagua has been accused of abuse of office, gross misconduct, constitutional violations and related legal breaches.

The MPs also want Gachagua out over his contentious remarks about the Mt. Kenya region being shareholders in President William Ruto’s government and allegations of promoting divisive politics in the country.

The second in command is also accused of violating the Official Secrets Act and undermining the Cabinet’s collective responsibility.

Further, Gachagua is on the spot following his decision to blame the National Intelligence Service for the deadly anti-government protests.

National Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Owen Baya announced that the motion will be tabled in due time.
