The Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing reaches its decisive stage as the Absa Invitational tees off at Karen Country Club from January 19–21, the final regular leg of the 2025/26 season.
A field of 113 players from 11 countries will compete, including 71 professionals (three women), 37 elite amateurs and a record eight juniors.
Kenya leads the field with 86 players, headed by Order of Merit leader Njoroge Kibugu, alongside top pros Dismas Indiza, John Lejirma, Greg Snow and CJ Wangai.
Uganda’s nine-player team is led by Thika Greens winner Willy Deus, while Rwanda’s challenge is spearheaded by Celestin Nsanzuwera, second on the Order of Merit.
The international field also includes players from Tanzania, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Ghana, Senegal, Malawi and India.
The mixed field features leading women players led by Sunshine Ladies Tour card holder Naom Wafula, joined by Joyce Wanjiru, Kellie Gachaga, Margaret Njoki and Tanzania’s Angel Eaton.
With the Order of Merit tightly contested, valuable points are at stake as players chase top-30 places for the continental playoffs in South Africa, OWGR points and qualification toward the 2026 Magical Kenya Open.
The tournament offers a KSh 2 million prize purse.
