Ability Sport Kenya President Agnes Oluoch has applauded President William Ruto’s ambitious plan to build 21 modern stadiums across the country, while urging the government to prioritise inclusion of athletes with disabilities in both planning and construction.

Oluoch praised the President’s commitment to sports development, terming it unprecedented in Kenya’s history, and emphasised that Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) must be considered from the design stage to ensure accessibility and equal participation.

“Kenya has never had a president who loves sports like Dr William Ruto. What he is doing is amazing and a step in the right direction for sports development. We need quality infrastructure across the country,” Oluoch said.

She noted that most existing stadiums in Kenya lack proper access for athletes with disabilities, a challenge that has hindered their ability to host competitions and conduct national trials.

Oluoch further called for the formulation of policies and laws that guarantee access to sporting facilities for athletes with disabilities, regardless of their economic background.

Her comments follow President Ruto’s announcement that the Talanta Sports City Stadium will be completed later this year as part of the government’s drive to deliver world-class sports infrastructure.

The President also pledged KSh1.4 billion towards completing the 25,000-seat Bukhungu Stadium in Western Kenya.

Oluoch added that inclusive infrastructure would significantly boost Kenya’s medal prospects, citing Ability Sport Kenya’s recent success at the inaugural World Abilitysport Beach Games in Turkey in November 2025, where the team won three gold medals.
