The Wiper Democratic Movement has launched a scathing attack on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), accusing it of peddling lies and engaging in “political theatre” over claims surrounding Raila Odinga’s health.

In a strongly worded statement issued by Wiper Secretary General Shakila Abdalla, the party dismissed ODM’s recent remarks as “an act of desperation from a once respected movement that has lost both its moral compass and political relevance.”

Abdalla said Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka harbours no ill will toward Raila Odinga, describing their relationship as one built on “longstanding cooperation and mutual respect.” She termed ODM’s insinuations that Kalonzo wished harm upon Raila as “malicious, reckless and utterly false.”

“ODM’s attempt to drag His Excellency Kalonzo Musyoka into its internal confusion is a weak distraction from the cracks splitting the so-called broad-based government they now defend so blindly,” Abdalla said.

The Wiper party further accused ODM of betraying its reformist ideals by aligning itself with President William Ruto’s administration. Abdalla said ODM’s current stance was “a mockery of the nation’s intelligence,” adding that the party had “found comfort in the pits of power with a regime that butchered young people during the Gen Z protests.”

She condemned ODM leaders for “standing shoulder to shoulder with those who have maimed and silenced the youth,” calling the move “shameful and unforgivable.”

Turning to Raila Odinga’s failed bid for the African Union Commission chairmanship, Abdalla dismissed any suggestion that Kalonzo Musyoka played a role in the outcome. She instead blamed what she termed as “diplomatic blunders and mishandling by the very government ODM now embraces.”

“Raila’s loss was not Kalonzo’s doing. It reflected the government’s lack of strategy and credibility on the continental stage,” Abdalla stated.

The statement accused ODM of attempting to “rewrite history” and using Raila’s health as a smokescreen to cover up its “guilt, fear, and desperation to justify a political marriage reeking of opportunism.”

“ODM’s hollow moral posturing cannot mask their betrayal of the Kenyan people. Their alliance with President Ruto exposes them as co-authors of the nation’s suffering,” Abdalla added.

She concluded by reaffirming Kalonzo Musyoka’s commitment to justice, truth, and national values, insisting that “no one will drag him into their self-inflicted political decay.”
