Wajir Set to Host Kenya’s 63rd Madaraka Day Celebrations

Based on the government, the decision to have Kenya’s 63rd independence day celebrations take place in Wajir County is to bring the country back to its corefreedom of Northern Kenyaand to demonstrate the region’s potential.

Kenya Nationa Celebrations Steering Committee Chairman Raymond Omollo speaking during rehearsals at Wajir stadium, said the celebrations would act as a catalyst to awaken the conscience of the country to the opportunities and positive impact that the region has towards Kenya’s prosperity.And accompanied by Charles Kahariri at the inspection of preparations for the national event.

The parliamentary committee expressed its congratulations to the Kenya defence forces for the timely and efficient manner in which they have done the construction works at the stadium.

Omollo revealed the military finished off the modernisation of the stadium within four months, a feat that he called ‘a major achievement’ before the celebrations.Getting ready for the nation event is coming to an end; security teams, performers and organisers are rehearsing at the site.

The celebrations are expected to bring together leaders, residents and visitors from across the country as Kenya marks another milestone in its independence journey.
