A delegation from the United States Embassy in Kenya has visited the Port of Mombasa as part of engagements aimed at exploring opportunities to strengthen trade and business cooperation between Kenya and the United States.
The delegation, led by Tara Logan, Deputy General Services Officer, and Jacob Neptune, Assistant General Services Officer in charge of Customs and Shipping, was received on behalf of Kenya Ports Authority Chief Executive Officer by Peter Masinde, Manager of Container Operations.
The discussions focused on trade relations, business cooperation and the role of the Port of Mombasa in facilitating international trade and logistics between Kenya and international markets.
The US Embassy delegation commended the Kenya Ports Authority for improvements recorded in port performance and the efficiency of services offered to customers and other stakeholders.
“The engagement provided an opportunity for the two sides to exchange views on the evolving trade and logistics landscape and explore areas of mutual interest,” the Kenya Ports Authority said.
Masinde also briefed the delegation on ongoing and planned infrastructure developments at the port, including initiatives aimed at expanding its capacity and improving operational efficiency.
He said the projects are intended to increase the port’s capacity, enhance service delivery and support the continued growth of Kenya’s maritime and logistics sector.
The visit provided an opportunity for the two sides to discuss areas of potential cooperation as Kenya seeks to strengthen its position as a regional trade and logistics hub.
The Port of Mombasa remains a key gateway for Kenya and the wider East African region, connecting businesses to international markets and supporting the movement of goods through the region.
