The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has stepped up efforts to mobilise eligible voters in Mombasa, with party leaders urging residents to register as voters and obtain national identification cards.
UDA Secretary General Senator Hassan Omar Hassan joined a voter registration sensitisation drive in Mvita Constituency, where grassroots leaders and community members were encouraged to take an active role in Kenya’s democratic processes.
The meeting, held at Tijara Grounds, brought together UDA parliamentary and Member of County Assembly aspirants, grassroots leaders and residents.
The discussions focused on the need to mobilise eligible citizens to register as voters and encourage those who have not acquired National Identity Cards to take the necessary steps to obtain them.
Senator Hassan urged grassroots leaders and community members to sustain the sensitisation and mobilisation campaign to ensure that no eligible citizen is left behind.
“Sen. Hassan encouraged grassroots leaders and community members to continue with the sensitization and mobilisation efforts so that no eligible citizen is left behind in exercising their constitutional right to participate in the democratic processes,” UDA said in a statement.
The meeting also highlighted the priorities, progress and achievements of President William Ruto’s administration.
UDA officials further discussed the TUTAM Movement and the importance of strengthening the connection between grassroots communities and the government’s development agenda.
The party said stronger grassroots engagement would enable residents of Mombasa and the wider Coast region to meaningfully participate in and benefit from Kenya’s development journey.
The voter registration drive comes as political parties continue strengthening their grassroots networks and encouraging eligible citizens to participate in the electoral process.
