Ruling party, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is planning to continue with their grassroots elections beginning Thursday, April 23, as part of the effort to strengthen the party’s internal structures ahead of the 2027 General Elections. Phase II of the exercise will be carried out in 22 counties.

Party leaders have not only expressed confidence that the process is well-prepared but have also urged members to actively participate.

UDA Returning Officer for Kisumu County, Charles Mundia, stated that all preparations have been completed to guarantee a smooth and credible exercise.

Mundia said that, together with security personnel, polling officers have already been recruited to supervise the process and maintain order during the elections.

He encouraged all registered UDA members to turn up in large numbers and participate in selecting their grassroots leaders explaining that the l it is a step towards strengthening the democratic basis of the party.

Furthermore, he promised members a free, fair and transparent election process stating that the party is dedicated to maintaining integrity and inclusiveness throughout the exercise.

UDA’s notion of strengthening party structures and organizing a support base at the local level using grassroots elections is recognized as a critical move.
