The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is planning to train teachers on artificial intelligence (AI) tools as it moves to increase the use of technology in teaching and teacher management.
The commission is also seeking a provider to review and improve its online Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) system.
In a notice published on MyGov on Tuesday, September 29, TSC invited interested bidders to provide training and consultancy services for the two projects.
The AI training will focus on digital skills, teaching methods, artificial intelligence applications and data ethics.
Teachers will also be introduced to practical AI tools that can be used in teaching under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.
TSC said the training is intended to help teachers understand and use emerging digital technologies while also addressing issues surrounding the responsible use of data.
The deadline for submitting expressions of interest for the teacher training project is Monday, October 12, 2026.
The project is listed under tender number TSC/EOI/01/2026-2027.
At the same time, TSC is looking for a provider to review, develop, deploy and maintain its online TPAD system.
The tender, listed as TSC/T/KPEEL/01/2026-2027, requires bidders to provide a KSh160,000 tender security.
The commission has also advertised a separate tender for internet connectivity for virtual learning infrastructure in primary schools under the Kenya Primary Education Equity Learning Program.
The internet connectivity tender, TSC/T/KPEEL/04/2026-2027, has a KSh36,000 bid security and will close on October 12 at 10:00 a.m.
Another consultancy will focus on supporting teachers with English content and teaching methods.
The School-Based Teacher Support System will cover teachers handling Grades 1 to 6 and Junior School Grades 7 to 9 across all 47 counties, including schools based in refugee camps.
The latest plans are part of a wider push by TSC to move more teacher services and learning support systems online.
The commission recently asked teachers enrolled in the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) to update their pension and beneficiary details and create digital access to their pension accounts.
TSC said teachers can use the PSSF Member Self-Service Portal to access their pension statements and other account information.
The commission said detailed tender documents for the various projects are available through its Supply Chain Management Services Division, its website and the Public Procurement Information Portal.
