The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has asked all registered teachers who are not currently employed by the commission to update their details online.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, the commission said the exercise is meant to help it better organize its records and plan for the future hiring of teachers.

The commission said that by doing so, it will be able to know how many trained teachers are out there and where it can deploy them when jobs are opened up again.

“The TSC Act requires the Commission to keep a register containing the names and addresses of every registered teacher, their qualifications and other particulars,” the commission said in a statement.

The commission also says that the exercise is part of that requirement and will help in bettering the way the education sector is run in the country.

The information to be updated includes the teacher’s academic qualifications, subjects they teach, specializations, and level of training among others.

The commission says that the information shared will be kept safe and will be processed in accordance with the law.

To take part, teachers have been asked to log in to the TSC website and update their profiles under the ‘Teacher Profile Update’ section.

The deadline for submitting the details is April 7.

TSC has also made it clear that the exercise is not a job application process, but only meant to update its records.
