A letter has gone viral on social media purporting that Siaya Governor James Orengo has resigned from his official duties.
The letter dated August 4, 2025, which was addressed to the Speaker of the Siaya County Assembly, cited medical grounds for Orengo’s supposed resignation.
However, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), a party the governor is allied to, has dismissed the claims.
Taking to social media, the Raila Odinga-led outfit shared the viral letter stamped as fake and asked Kenyans to disregard it.
"We can authoritatively state the letter is fake. Ignore it and focus,” said ODM.The resignation claim follows Orengo’s long break from the public eye with allegations that he has been taken ill.
