TND Party Leader Thuo Mathenge Urges Leaders to Embrace Sober Politics

Thuo Mathenge, the leader of The New Democrat (TND) Party, has called on political leaders to adopt a more sober approach to politics, focusing on development and national progress rather than divisive rhetoric.

Speaking during an interview with Tukio, Mathenge emphasized the need for issue-based politics, stating that political leaders must prioritize the economic and social welfare of Kenyans to move the country forward.

“The time for petty politics is over. As leaders, we have a duty to ensure that our focus is on development and improving the lives of the people we serve,” Mathenge said.

Mathenge highlighted the importance of national unity, urging leaders from all regions to collaborate for the good of the country. He warned that continued tribalism and political divisions would only hinder Kenya’s growth.

“We must remember that we are one country. Tribalism and division are distractions that will prevent us from achieving the development we need. Leaders must put aside their differences and work together for the benefit of all Kenyans,” he said.

Mathenge also stressed that the current political climate calls for leaders who are accountable and transparent. He urged politicians to embrace honesty in their dealings, noting that the public is increasingly demanding leaders who can be trusted to deliver on their promises.

He urged his fellow politicians to avoid the constant squabbles and infighting that have often dominated the political scene, warning that such behavior only hampers national progress.

Mathenge’s remarks come as the TND Party experiences a surge in popularity, particularly in the Mount Kenya region.

The party, which has been steadily gaining ground, is positioning itself as a key player ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to Mathenge, TND’s rising influence in the region is a testament to the party’s commitment to development and unity, rather than the tribal and divisive politics often seen in the past.

Mathenge predicted that the TND Party would play a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape in the upcoming 2027 general election.

He noted that the party’s grassroots support, especially in Mount Kenya, has grown significantly, reflecting the public’s desire for a new kind of politics—one rooted in integrity and focused on the nation’s future.

“TND will be a key player in the 2027 election. We are already seeing significant support from the people, particularly in Mount Kenya, where voters are increasingly turning to us because they see the value of our message of unity and development,” Mathenge stated.
