Three suspects linked to a brazen robbery with violence at Sanergy Limited Company’s EPZ facility have been arrested following an intensive manhunt by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The robbery, which occurred on the night of February 23, saw armed assailants storm the premises, assault workers, and cart away valuables worth an undisclosed amount of money.
According to a statement released by the DCI, the suspects were tracked down and arrested from their hideouts in Kamulu and Athi River. Detectives said the breakthrough came after days of piecing together forensic and intelligence leads.
“The employees were left battered and bound as the robbers made off with their loot: a fridge, a microwave, two lorry batteries, two backloader tractor batteries, and a generator, which they loaded into a waiting pickup before vanishing,” the DCI said.
The gang leader was nabbed in a rented house in Kamulu, where police recovered a Beretta pistol, a pocket phone, and six assorted SIM cards during a search. Preliminary investigations suggest the robbery was coordinated by a five-member gang, two of whom are still at large.
The three suspects are currently in custody and undergoing police processing ahead of their arraignment. Meanwhile, detectives have launched a fresh pursuit of the remaining accomplices.
Recovered items are being held as exhibits to aid in the ongoing investigation.
