Two-time Paralympic gold medallist Samuel Mushai Kimani is among 20 athletes named to represent Team Kenya at the upcoming World Para Athletics Championships, scheduled for September 27 to October 5 in New Delhi, India.

Mushai, who claimed gold in the 5,000m and 1,500m (T11 category) at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, will compete in the same events as he eyes further glory.

His campaign in India will follow shortly after the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, slated for September 13–21.

Also included in the team is rising star Stency Neema Obonyo, who will compete in the 100m and 200m (T47 category).

Currently training at Kenyatta University alongside her teammates, Neema is focused on sharpening her starts, acceleration, and finishes to improve her chances of making the finals.

After New Delhi, she will shift her attention to the All-Africa Para Badminton Championship, scheduled for October 6–12 in Abia State, Nigeria.

Neema previously competed at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, where she lost to Egypt’s Salma Ali Abd Al Moneem Hassan, the 2023 World Para silver medallist, in the under-52kg taekwondo category.
