According to sources close to the family, Justice Mohammed had been undergoing treatment in India but was advised by doctors to return to Kenya after his condition deteriorated. He later passed away at home, surrounded by family.

Justice Ibrahim was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of Kenya on June 16, 2011, following an open and competitive interview process, becoming part of the country’s inaugural Supreme Court bench.

In August 2021, he was appointed by the Chief Justice as Chairperson of the Judiciary Committee on Elections, a role in which he oversaw key electoral dispute processes within the judiciary.

He was also elected on May 17, 2022, to represent the Supreme Court as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), contributing to judicial governance and reforms.
