Sirikwa classic, a World Cross Country Tour, targets over 3, 500 children for the kids’ athletic races during the event’s fifth edition set for February 14 in Eldoret.
This follows recent victory in the World Athletics Kids’ Athletics Day Member Federation Challenge where Kenya was named the world’s top-performing federation for mobilising children in athletics.
According to Competition Director Kennedy Tanui, last year about 3, 000 children participated in the competition.
The Kids Athletics competitions will feature boys and girls across three age categories: 5–8 years, 9–12 years, and 13–15 years.
To meet the increased numbers, organisers will partner with schools within and around Uasin Gishu County.
