President William Ruto has announced that Kenyans seeking outpatient services at Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 public hospitals will no longer pay any additional charges, as the government moves to make healthcare more accessible.
Speaking during a tour of health projects in Migori County, the President said Sh21 billion has been set aside to reimburse hospitals for the free services.
Accompanied by the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, Ruto inspected ongoing works at Kehancha Level 4 Hospital, upgrades at Uriri Sub-County Hospital, and the installation of equipment at Migori County Referral Hospital under the National Equipment Services Programme.
The visit also showcased progress in registering residents under the Social Health Authority, with 467,927 people nearly 42% of Migori’s population already signed up.
