Nairobi has come to a standstill following football Arsenal’s historic Premier League triumph, as celebrations have spilled across the nation and the world, drawing leaders and fans together.
Governor Johnson Sakaja joined the supporters, gifting them Ksh 50,000 to celebrate. His presence shows that football culture runs deep in Nairobi, where English Premier League victories are celebrated.
Fans wearing Arsenal jerseys waved flags, sang chants and captured the moment on their phones, grateful for the governor’s recognition of their passion.
At the same time, the self –styled ‘Arsenal General,’ Usefuilidioty, took the center stage at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), addressing the crowd and stating he will organize with Arsenal to bring the Premier League trophy to Kenya so fans across the country could have a close up view.
He went further, promising to distribute free jerseys for 22 days, symbolizing the 22- year wait since Arsenal last won the league title.
These moments have captured the unique way global football resonates in Kenya, with Arsenal’s victory igniting celebrations globally, blending recognition, energy and a reflection of loyalty Kenyan supporters hold for the club.
