Environment Principal Secretary Festus Ng’eno was reportedly among five people who escaped unhurt after a Kenya Forest Service helicopter crashed at Kericho Golf Club on Monday, October 12.

The helicopter, registration number 5Y-FSK, crashed while attempting to take off from the golf club, according to a source privy to Tukio.

All five occupants survived the incident, with emergency responders arriving at the scene shortly after the crash.

Images from the scene showed the helicopter lying on a grassy field, with its tail section appearing to have separated from the main body of the aircraft.

The cause of the crash had not been established by the time of publication. It was also unclear whether the aircraft developed a mechanical problem or encountered other difficulties during take-off.

The incident comes months after a helicopter crash in Nandi County claimed the lives of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno and five other people on February 28, 2026.

The aircraft crashed in the Chepkiep area of Mosop Constituency, killing all six people on board. The victims included a Kenya Forest Service officer and the pilot.

The latest incident is expected to draw attention to aviation safety as investigators seek to establish what caused the helicopter to crash in Kericho.

Authorities had yet to release further details on the circumstances surrounding Monday’s incident.
