President William Ruto has welcomed the new United Nations Resident Coordinator for Kenya, Garry Conille, at State House, Nairobi, pledging close cooperation in advancing development priorities.

Dr Conille, a former Prime Minister of Haiti, was received as Ruto noted his long-standing ties with Kenya and expressed confidence in his leadership within the UN system.

Ruto said Kenya will fully support Conille as he undertakes his mandate in the country, especially through coordinated efforts under the Development Partnership Forum.

The forum brings together government officials and international development partners in Nairobi to align national priorities with global support frameworks.

Ruto said the discussions will focus on aligning development strategies with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, with key attention on infrastructure expansion, climate resilience, and the growth of the digital economy.

Why did Ruto thank Garry Conille?

He added that the platform will help streamline cooperation between Kenya and its partners in delivering priority development programmes.

The President also thanked Dr Conille for his role in supporting stability efforts in Haiti, noting his contribution in receiving Kenyan police officers deployed under the United Nations-backed Multinational Security Support Mission.

Ruto said Kenya values the partnership with the United Nations and looks forward to deeper collaboration under Conille’s leadership.
