President William Ruto has called on local leaders and communities to help identify and mobilize young people for international job opportunities under the government’s Kazi Majuu initiative.

Speaking on Thursday, the President revealed that over 400,000 Kenyan youth have secured employment abroad in the past two years, significantly boosting the country’s diaspora remittances.

“Over the last two years, 400,000 young people from Kenya have joined the global workforce,” said President Ruto. “That is why, if you look at our remittances, they have gone up from $4 billion to close to $5 billion.”

He noted that these figures highlight the success of the government’s labor export strategy and emphasized the need for wider community participation to onboard even more young people.

“We want you to assist us to mobilize young people in your localities so that they can be onboarded on what we call Kazi Majuu,” the President urged.

The Kazi Majuu program aims to equip Kenyan youth with the necessary skills and certifications to take up job opportunities abroad, especially in sectors such as healthcare, construction, hospitality, and technology.

President Ruto assured that the government is working to create more safe and dignified job placements for Kenyan workers abroad, while also strengthening bilateral labor agreements with destination countries.
