President William Ruto has announced multi-billion-shilling projects in Kisii and Nyamira counties, describing them as a historic opportunity to unlock prosperity in the region.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, during a meeting with a Gusii political leadership delegation led by Kisii Governor Simba Arati, the President said the government is committed to ensuring every part of Kenya experiences equitable growth.

“We have before us a rare and historic opportunity to make every part of our country truly prosperous,” said Dr. Ruto.

In Kisii County, the government will roll out transformative projects worth Sh30 billion, including the construction of 15,000 affordable housing units, Sh2.5 billion in modern tertiary student hostels, and four state-of-the-art markets valued at Sh2.4 billion.

Nyamira County will benefit from equally ambitious investments worth Sh16 billion, comprising 7,000 housing units, student hostels, and three modern markets designed to anchor trade and boost economic growth.

Additionally, more than 32,000 households across the two counties will be connected to reliable electricity. “This will unlock commerce, enable industries, and empower families with the tools to thrive,” the President noted.

The meeting was also attended by ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga, Cabinet Secretary Ogamba Migosi, Solicitor General Shadrack Mose, and other leaders, who welcomed the government’s development agenda for the Gusii region.
