Ruto to Launch Strategic Framework for Police, Prisons, and Youth Service Reforms

President William Ruto is set to officially launch the Strategic Framework for the Implementation of Reforms in the National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, and the National Youth Service.

This pivotal move follows the successful execution of the first phase recommendations as outlined by the Chief Justice (Rtd) David Maraga Taskforce, which presented its report to President Ruto in November last year.

Ministry of interior issued statement on their social media pages.

“H.E. President William Ruto will today officially launch the Strategic Framework for Implementation of Reforms in the National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, and the National Youth Service.,” statement read.

The strategic framework, designed to guide the next phase of reforms, aims to ensure effective implementation across several critical areas.

It will focus on leadership within the three services, emphasizing oversight and accountability, institutional capacity development, human resource management, operational preparedness, and logistical capability.

Developed in collaboration with the National Treasury, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), and the Public Service Commission (PSC), the framework provides a comprehensive roadmap for reform.

According to Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo, the framework will also involve development partners who will support various projects and programs identified in the recommendations.

Dr. Omollo highlighted the importance of this framework in shaping the future of these key services.

“We are similarly bringing development partners to the table to support some of the projects and programs identified in the recommendations,” he said.

The launch marks a significant step towards enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of Kenya’s national services, aligning them with the broader goals of governance and public service improvement.
