The government will clear all outstanding payments owed to road contractors by Friday, February 6, President William Samoei Ruto has said.
The payments will cover road works bills that have been pending since December 2025, some of which had slowed down or completely stalled projects across the country.
President Ruto made the announcement while speaking at State House during the issuance of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nomination forms to aspiring candidates.
He said the move is meant to ease the financial strain facing contractors and allow road works to resume without further delays.
“This Friday ,the 6th of February 2026, the government will pay all Roads Pending Bills dating back to December 2025.,” the President said.
Several contractors have in the past complained that delayed payments forced them to suspend projects, lay off workers, and take loans to stay afloat.
