President William Ruto has hailed the Kenyan workforce as one of the country’s greatest assets, citing its education, talent and competitiveness in the global labour market.

Speaking during a town hall meeting with Kenyans living and working in Finland, held in the city of Helsinki, the President said the government is intensifying efforts to create employment opportunities both locally and abroad as part of its broader economic transformation agenda.

Ruto noted that while the government continues to expand job opportunities within Kenya, it is also facilitating access to quality employment abroad for skilled professionals and technical workers.

He said such opportunities enable Kenyans to increase their incomes, gain valuable international experience and contribute to the country’s economy through remittances.

“The Kenyan workforce is one of our greatest assets—educated, talented and globally competitive,” the President said, adding that overseas employment programmes are helping to strengthen household incomes and support national development.

During the engagement, Ruto encouraged members of the Kenyan diaspora in Scandinavia to invest back home and participate in the government’s development programmes aimed at creating jobs, expanding economic opportunities and accelerating national transformation.

The President’s remarks come as Kenya continues to pursue labour mobility agreements with various countries to enhance overseas employment opportunities for its citizens while leveraging diaspora remittances as a key source of foreign exchange earnings.
