Ruto Commissions Sh1.5 Billion Lessos–Kabarnet Power Line

President William Ruto has commissioned the 132kV Lessos–Kabarnet Transmission Line Project in Baringo County, marking a major boost to electricity connectivity in the North Rift region.

The Sh1.5 billion project will be integrated into the national grid and is expected to supply reliable, affordable and stable electricity to thousands of households and businesses in Baringo and neighbouring Elgeyo-Marakwet County.

President Ruto said the transmission line will strengthen service delivery, create employment opportunities for the youth and support economic growth in the region.

“Commissioned the 132kV Lessos –Kabarnet Transmission Line Project, Baringo County. This Sh1.5 Billion transformative investment in Kabarnet will be integrated into the national grid, supplying reliable, affordable and stable electricity to thousands of households and businesses in Baringo and Elgeyo-Marakwet Counties,” Ruto said.

He noted that improved power supply will enhance industrial activity, attract investment and improve the quality of life for residents.

The project forms part of the government’s broader agenda to expand energy infrastructure and drive inclusive development across the country.
