President William Ruto has begun a four day development tour of the South Rift region, with Bomet and Kericho counties set to host a series of project launches, inspections and public engagements.
The tour, which runs from Wednesday, September 9 to Saturday, September 12, will see the President move across different parts of the two counties to assess government projects in healthcare, roads, housing, markets and sports.
Ruto began the tour in Bomet, where he is expected to inspect ongoing works at Itembe Airstrip before commissioning the Bomet Mother and Child Hospital.
He will also commission roads within Bomet town and an affordable housing project before addressing residents in Bomet town.
The President will later proceed to Tegat in Bomet East before travelling to Soin Sigowet in Kericho, where he is scheduled to inspect development projects.
On Thursday, Ruto is expected to launch the construction of a road in Furaha, Kipkelion East, before visiting Rungut Primary School in Bureti.
He will also inspect the ongoing rehabilitation of Kapkatet Stadium before returning to Bomet to commission the Kiplokyi Chebole road in Bomet Central.
The tour will then continue to Kamureito in Sotik as the President moves across the region.
On Friday, Ruto will visit Kokwet in Kipkelion West and Kapsoit in Ainamoi, where he is expected to inspect the Torit Junction Kenegut Kapsorok road.
He will later travel to Boito in Konoin for further engagements with residents and assessment of development projects.
The final day of the tour on Saturday will take Ruto to Chebunyo, where he is expected to inspect the Economic Stimulus Programme market.
He will also assess works along the Kapkwen Olbutyo Siongiroi Ndanai road corridor before concluding the tour with an engagement in Kericho town.
The road projects form a major part of the tour as the government seeks to improve connectivity and movement of goods and people across the two counties.
Healthcare and sports infrastructure are also expected to feature prominently. Kapkatet Stadium is among the facilities being rehabilitated, with the Kericho County Government saying the 10,000 capacity facility is expected to be completed within six months under an accelerated completion programme.
The tour comes as preparations have intensified across Bomet and Kericho, with national and county officials working to ensure projects scheduled for inspection and commissioning are ready.
It also gives residents an opportunity to raise concerns over stalled projects and seek updates on government commitments in their areas.
For the Ruto administration, the four day visit provides an opportunity to showcase projects under its development agenda while strengthening its presence in the South Rift.
